Partner program for car dealers

An insurance partner for car dealers and independent used car lots

A car deal can stall when the buyer does not have insurance lined up. Kaufman Insurance Group gives your buyers a licensed agent to call, compares auto insurance from multiple companies, and sends proof of insurance to your finance desk once the buyer chooses a policy, so the deal can keep moving.

  • A licensed agent for buyers who need coverage before they drive away
  • Options compared across multiple companies for many kinds of drivers
  • Proof of insurance with your lienholder information, once the buyer buys

Personal & Commercial · Quick Quotes – Good Rates · Great Companies

As an independent agency, we compare auto insurance from the companies we work with, so your customers are not limited to one company’s price or rules. Which companies can quote a customer depends on what they want to insure, where they live, and each company’s own rules.

What your customers need

What car buyers need insured before they drive away

Ohio, like almost every state, requires liability insurance before a car can be driven on public roads. Liability insurance pays for injuries and damage the driver causes to other people. If the buyer is financing, the lender or your own buy-here-pay-here program will almost always require more than that.

Financed cars usually need collision coverage, which pays to repair the car after a crash, and comprehensive coverage, which pays for things like theft, hail, fire, and hitting a deer. The lender also expects to be listed on the policy as the loss payee. The loss payee is the party that gets paid first if the car is totaled or stolen, so the loan balance is protected.

Many buyers walk in without knowing any of this. Some are buying their first car. Some are replacing a car that was just totaled. Others have a gap in coverage, a ticket, or an accident on their record and are not sure who will insure them. Those are the deals that tend to sit in the finance office while everyone waits.

First-time and young buyers

They may never have had their own policy and need someone to explain liability, collision, and comprehensive in plain words.

Buyers replacing a totaled car

Their current policy may need to move to the new vehicle, or they may want to compare prices while they are at it.

Buyers with a less-than-perfect record

A lapse in coverage, a ticket, or an accident can limit options. We check which companies will quote them.

Buy-here-pay-here customers

Your financing terms may require full coverage with your dealership listed as lienholder, and you need proof that it is in place.

How we help your customers

How Kaufman helps your buyers get insured

Your buyer talks with a licensed agent who explains what the lender requires, shows options from the companies we work with, and handles the paperwork once they choose a policy.

Quick quotes

We work to get a quote to your buyer quickly while they are ready to buy. How long it takes depends on the driver, the vehicle, and each company’s process.

Multiple companies compared

Because we are an independent agency, we compare auto insurance from multiple companies instead of offering one price and one set of rules.

Proof of insurance handled

Once the buyer buys a policy, we send an insurance ID card or other proof of coverage to your finance desk with the correct lienholder listed.

Coverage that fits the car

An older cash car may only need liability. A newer financed car needs full coverage. We match the policy to the car, the loan, and the buyer’s budget.

How referrals work

How it works for your dealership

The process is short, and it does not require anyone on your staff to know insurance.

Fill out the referral form

Fill out our referral form for your buyer, or send them to your personal referral page to fill it out. Either way, the referral is tracked back to you.

We get your buyer quoted

Once the form is in, we contact your buyer and compare options. You or your buyer can also call or text us anytime at (330) 486-8404.

We send proof of insurance

Once your buyer chooses a policy, we send proof of insurance as quickly as we can.

Please share a customer’s name and contact details only after they agree to hear from us. Unless you hold an insurance license, leave questions about coverage, limits, and price to our licensed agents.

We follow state and federal rules on insurance referrals. You can read more on our partner program page.

Common questions

Questions from car dealers

Can you help a buyer who is at my dealership right now?

We work to move quickly when a buyer is ready, and many buyers can get a quote while they wait. We cannot promise a specific time, because each insurance company has its own rules and some drivers need extra review.

Do you insure drivers with tickets, accidents, or a lapse in coverage?

Often, yes. Multiple of the companies we work with write drivers who do not have a clean record. Price and availability depend on the driver’s history, the vehicle, and the state where the car is kept.

What is a loss payee, and why does the lender care?

The loss payee is the lender or dealer that holds the loan. Being listed as loss payee means they are paid first if the car is totaled or stolen, so the loan is protected. Lenders almost always require it on financed vehicles.

Will my staff need to explain insurance to customers?

No. Your team only needs to fill out the referral form or point the customer to your personal referral page. Unless someone on your staff holds an insurance license, questions about coverage, limits, and price should come to our licensed agents.

Can you also look at my dealership’s own insurance?

We are glad to talk about your business coverage too. Dealerships have specialized needs, so we will tell you honestly which options we can offer after we learn about your lot.

Is the partner program open outside Ohio?

Kaufman Insurance Group is based in Twinsburg, Ohio. Our partner program is open to businesses in Ohio now, with North Carolina coming soon and more states on the way.
